RealObjects PDFreactor 4.0 officially released!

Saarbrücken RealObjects today announced the official release of PDFreactor 4.0. The new major release PDFreactor 4.0 is available from the RealObjects website for immediate download. The highlights of the new version are:

 

PDF/A Support

  • PDFreactor 4 supports creating PDF/A-compliant files. To create PDF/A-1a (ISO 19005-1 Level a) compliant files, only one specific parameter in your PDFreactor integration is necessary.
  • RealObjects is a member of the PDF/A Competence Center.

 

Professional Printing

  • Multi-column layout typically used in newspapers and magazines is supported (according to CSS 3 "Multi-Column Layout").

  • Footnotes can be added using simple CSS (according to CSS 3 "Generated Content for Paged Media").
  • Specifying the PDF page boxes allows the content to bleed off trim area.
  • Printer marks including trim marks, bleed marks, registration marks and color bars can be added to the pages.
  • There is the option to convert color key words into CMYK colors.

 

Further noteworthy improvements

  • PDFreactor 4 includes extended support for non-Latin content. This includes better handling of various document encodings as well as bidirectional content.

BiDi Demonstration

  • Form support has been extended: Non-interactive form and PDF-forms can be styled and form elements adopt their names from the input document.
